According to market research report the whiskey is in-demand among Russian consumers and this segment growth year by year. For instance in 2010 the volume of imported whiskey to Russia grew 42.8% to 1.91 mln dal. This steady increasing demand for this spirit makes Russian producers think about the possibility of launching analogues of whiskey.

Kaliningrad wine factory "Alliance-1892" announced plans for bottling of whiskey relying on its own production capacity. This beverage gets to the shop shelves in May and will be titled 7 Yards.

The plant has already signed the necessary papers with the Scottish Whisky producer in February 2011. Representatives of the Russian company reported that the plant will only bottle the whiskey, and the main process of the production of beverage will be concentrated in Scotland: as a distillation, three-year aging, blending, reports website sostav.ru.

According to director of the plant, the new brand launching is based on the strong growth of whiskey demand in this segment of the Russian market. Head of the company is sure that the new product will encompass a significant part of the Russian whiskey market.

Officially reported that the launch of the whiskey sale at the federal level will be held in the late spring. The preliminary price is 500 Russian rubles (18 USD) per 0.7 liters. The approximate amount of investments in the production of whiskey amounts 24 million Russian rubles (850 thousand USD). According to the forecast the first year sales amount 30 thousand dal. Major competitors of the Russian Whisky are Glen Clyde, Scottish Collie, Bells. In general, the market experts estimate the potential of whiskey very high due to the ability to draw the attention of premium vodka and cognac lovers.
